Roll Call Lance Corporal W Jack – April 12th 1965

Lance Corporal Jack served with Airborne Forces as part of 23 Parachute Field Ambulance, and took part in the deployment to Borneo in 1965.

Lance Corporal Murray was involved in the crash of a Wessex helicopter into the Nanga Gaat River, in the Sarawak region of Borneo on 12 April 1965.

Eight men onboard, including three other 2 PARA soldiers and one medic from 23 PFA, the pilot and three men of the Royal Navy were declared missing after the accident. Sadly, just two of the bodies were recovered later. The remaining six men, including L/Cpl Jack are now commemorated on memorials in Borneo.

Lance Corporal Jack was declared missing, presumed killed on 12 April 1965. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Terendak Military Cemetery, Malacca, Malaysia.
