Victor Padureano, son of Michel and Maude Victoria Padureano, of Norwich enlisted into The Royal Artillery (Field, Coastal and Anti-Aircraft) before volunteering for airborne forces in 1942.

Sgt Padureano a Foreign National, qualified as a military parachutist on course 21/22 in August 1942 and was posted to the 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (1 Para Bn) and went to North Africa on Operation Torch.

In North Africa Sgt Padureano was awarded the Military Medal for ‘Conspicuous gallantry and leadership’ for his actions on 28 March 1943.

Sgt Padureano MM parachuted into Sicily on Operation Fustian (part of Operation Husky) on 13 July 1943 and was killed, aged 23 years, the next day.

He was buried in Catania War Cemetery, Sicily.
