Adolph Bleichroeder was the son of Bernard and Julie Bleichroeder of Hamburg, Germany and was born in 1922. He came to Britain to study before the war.
When war broke out, Adoplh was deported to Australia, where he stayed for 18 months, before returning to Britain and enlisting into the Pioneer Corps.
He served with 3 Platoon, 21st Independent Parachute Company under the alias of Pte Timothy Bleach and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.
Private Bleach died on 25 September 1944 possibly whilst attempting to cross the Rhine during the withdrawal, aged 22 years old.
He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Nijmegen as his body was never recovered.
