Reginald Thomas was the son of Theophilus and Anne Thomas and the husband of Edith Thomas, of Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.
He was granted a commission and volunteered for airborne forces. Lieutenant Thomas successfully completed his parachute training on course number 94/95 at RAF Ringway. This lasted from 6 to 23 December 1943, and was posted to Mortar Platoon, Support Company, 11th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.
He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem). Lt Thomas was killed in action on 21 September 1944, aged 28, and was given a field burial in the Arnhem Communal Roman Catholic Cemetery, and was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 27 August 1945.
