Private Leonard Patrick Newman, son of Charles and Lily Newman, of Walthamstow, Essex, served with 12th (Yorks) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Rhine Crossing, during Op Varsity.
Private Newman died on 24 March 1945, aged 19 years old. He is now buried at Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kleve, Germany.
