Major John G L Hume

John George Lucas Hume, was the son of Colonel Ernest George Hume and Elma Hume, of Binfield, Berkshire.

He was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in August 1934 and promoted to Temporary Major in January 1942 while fighting in Burma, where he was awarded a Mention in Despatches.

He later served with 1st Airlanding Light Regiment RA  and deployed with the regiment for Operation Doomsday in Norway.

Major Hume died in an accident on 6 June 1945, aged 31 years, and is buried at Eiganes Churchyard, Stavanger, Norway.
