Roll Call Lieutenant-Colonel John Burden Sanderson August 6th 1921 – December 21st 2001

T/ Major with the 50th Para Brigade in Burma 1944 (Former adjutant of 6/11 Sikhs) One of the few survivors of Shangshak after battle, made way back to Imphal/ India with seriously wounded fellow officer.

Reported missing for several weeks then fortuitously picked up by R.N. MT Boat. Later dropped by chute into Thai POW camp to liberate our POW's.

Later career: MA in Sofia, NATO GSOI, Suez landing British/French Liaison Officer in Germany etc finally retired from service after 46 years.( until 63years old,last appt was Admin officer in 2nd Wessex TA)
