Private J A Dixon

J A Dixon enlisted into the South Wales Borderers before volunteering for airborne forces in March 1943.

He qualified as a military parachutist on course 61, which ran at RAF Ringway from 19 April to 3 May 1943. The course instructors’ notes record ‘Outstanding performer. Well disciplined. Would make good NCO.’

Private Dixon was posted to Intelligence Section, Headquarter Company, 3rd Parachute Battalion. It is likely that he served in Sicily and Italy before returning to the UK in December 1943.

Pte Dixon went on Operation Market Garden and was taken Prisoner of War.

He was demobbed in January 1947.
