Roll Call Major Guy L Blacklidge – September 23rd 1944

Major Guy Lechmere Blacklidge was the son of Frederick C and Sheila Backlidge, and the husband of Patricia D Blacklidge, of Petersham, Surrey.

In September 1944, he was serving as the Company Commander of  B Company, 11th Parachute Battalion when he took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.

Major Blacklidge died on 23 September 1944, aged 29 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Nijmegen.
