Lieutenant Gordon Harry O'Brien-Hitching, son of Capt J O'Brien-Hitching MC, and Elsie O'Brien-Hitching, joined Airborne Forces after completing Parachute Course 84 in early October 1943.
He joined 1 Platoon of A Company, 13th (South Lancs) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Normandy campaign, during Op Overlord.
Lieutenant O'Brien-Hitching died on 12 July 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Bayeux War Cemetery, Normandy.
