Corporal George A Fowler

George Andrew Fowler, son of George and Elizabeth Fowler, of Torquay, Devon and husband of Elizabeth Fowler, of 51 Bentinck Road, Nottingham, enlisted into the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Corporal Fowler successfully completed Glider training and was posted to 253 (Airborne) Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, Operation Market Garden.

Cpl Fowler was killed in action on 20 September 1944, aged 29, and was buried in Jonkerbos War Cemetery.
