Frederick Charles Butcher, the son of Edward Arthur and Sarah Ann Butcher, of Rainham, Essex.

He successfully completed his parachute training at Ringway on 11 May 1945. It was noted that Butcher was a “Good parachutist, keen, well built and reliable”.

Private Butcher was posted to the Reserve Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. He then was transferred to 4th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment to serve in Palestine.

He died on 31 August 1946 and is now buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel
