Lance Bombardier Frank Peers

Frank Peers, son of Samuel and Annie Peers; husband of Winifred Elaine Peers, of Thurstaston, Cheshire, enlisted into The Royal Artillery during The Second World War.

He volunteered for airborne forces and served with 53rd (Worcester Yeomanry) Airlanding Light Regiment RA.

The 53rd Airlanding Light Regiment's first deployment was on Operation Overlord, which marked the start of the liberation of France from German occupation.

Lance Bombardier Peerws was killed on 11 August 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
