Lance Corporal Dale Hopkins served with 1 PARA in Afghanistan and died on a Taliban ambush in the Lashkar Gah region of Helmand province, Southern Afghanistan.
The Jackal he was travelling in was hit by an explosion and small arms fire. He died with Cpl Kevin Mulligan and Pte Kyle Adams (also 1 PARA). Another soldier onboard was seriously injured.
Lance Corporal Hopkins was aged 23 when he was killed.
