Claude Thomas Howe volunteered for airborne forces and qualified as a military parachutist on Course 189 which ran at RAF Ringway from 31 December 1945 to 23 January 1946.
Private ‘Tom’ Howe was initially posted to a Reserve Battalion before going to The 9th (Essex) Parachute Battalion.
