Sergeant Cecil H F Morgan

15 Dec 1921 - 06 Sep 1987

Cecil Henry Frederick Morgan served with 75 (Middlesex) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) during the Second World War before volunteering for airborne forces.

Gunner Morgan completed preparatory training at Hardwick Hall, and attended RAF Ringway for parachute training course 24, which ran from 24 to 30 August 1942. He completed the 7 descents, consisting of 2 from balloon and 5 from converted Whitley bombers, necessary to qualify.

He served with the Mortar Platoon, Support Company, 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment. It is likely that he saw active service in North Africa, Sicily and Italy prior to deploying to Arnhem during Operation Market Garden. It is believed that Sgt Morgan was captured and held as a prisoner of war.

Sgt Morgan was demobbed in July 1946.
