Roll Call Driver Arthur E Start

Arthur Edward Start was a Driver in the Royal Army Service Corps, and served with Airborne Forces during the Second World War.

In September 1944, he was serving with 250 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, RASC, attached to 1 (C) Parachute Platoon. The Platoon took part in the First Lift to Arnhem on 17 September, during Op Market Garden.

Along with 3 Platoon, they were intended to provide the ammunition and service supplies to the 2nd Parachute Battalion at Arnhem Bridge, although their dispersal on the ground prevented them carrying this out.

Dvr Start was eventually captured during the Battle, and became a Prisoner of War.
